Stage Whispers

“A lavish professional production with beautiful production values.”

“Mimma is a fascinating and intriguing production…”

Out in Perth

“Mimma Marini, played by the soprano-darling of Andre Rieu fame, Mirusia Louwerse, was the true embodiment of an independent, head-strong Italian journalist. Her acting and accent were impeccable and her voice like the nightingale referred to in the show – sweet, yet rich and full bodied.”

“…the level of talent, script-writing, musical composition and production is worthy of the West End Stage.”

Broadway World

“…the production values are impressive, with a set by Bryan Woltjen that elicits applause when the curtains rise, beautifully crafted lighting by Trent Suidgeest, and a cast that is absolutely crammed with outstanding local and national talent. Perth audiences will undoubtedly relate to the ideas that underpin Mimma: friendship, loyalty, integrity. And many will find something familiar in the account of Mimma coming to Australia from Europe during this era. It's a shame that Mimma isn't more about Mimma rather than everyone else around her; a few more passes at the drawing board could see this home-grown musical worthy of the world stage.”

Theatre Travels

“Presented by an entirely WA-based creative team who form Orana Productions, this show is not only a star vehicle for its array of talented performers, but a testament to the creative abilities of its creators…”

“Mimma’s set is particularly striking, and is so easily transformed into drastically different settings – lending extremely well to the story’s constant jumps in time and location.”

“I urge you to buy a ticket for a night of theatre that you won’t find elsewhere and that you truly won’t forget.”

Seesaw Magazine

“The creatives behind Mimma have come together to build something new, unique and – with a little more time at the drawing board – world-class.”

Theatre People:  3.5/5 STARS

“The passion of both librettist Giles Watson and composer/producer Ron Siemiginowski shines through in every scene.”

“Mimma” largely works well as a musical, making some interesting observations and providing new insights into Italy’s involvement in World War II, and the British and Australian connections that ensued.”

Fourth Wall Media

Mimma is simply wonderful – the music is perfect and intelligently composed with each era referencing the time and place it is from. The acting and dancing are superb, it features a very strong ensemble cast with each and every one giving us something to look at. Mirusia Louwerse and Holly Meegan will make you fall in love with them – Mimma and Sarah are such well-rounded and accomplished characters. WA can hold its head up high with an original production like Mimma under its belt.

The Post

”… Mimma’s personal journey gets lost in the broader Italian politics, the drama of her family in Turin, the spirited defence of England, and a curiously brief moment of drama with the sinking of a ship full of Italian immigrants.”

“The cross-cultural epic is a handsome production and a big-hearted effort, and even if it feels episodic and clunky at times, it bubbles with ideas and stirring moments.”
